Movie Review: The Little Prince

Today’s movie review is on “The Little Prince”.

Film Summary (taken from Google): “The Aviator introduces a girl to a world where she rediscovers her childhood and learns that it’s human connections that matter most, and that it is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye.”

When I saw it: August 5th

Where I saw it: Netflix

My Thoughts: I had been waiting to watch this since I first saw the trailer last year. And boy, was it worth the wait! (I literally cried during every trailer that came out…no joke) This movie is now one of my favorite movies of all time! (I’ve actually seen it 3 times since it came out.) I laughed, I cried, and I thoroughly enjoyed watching this movie. I don’t normally cry during movies/shows unless it really hits me, so “The Little Prince” did just that. And the cast did a spectacular job! I’ve noticed that it has not been the first recently animated movie that is just geared towards kids. As a teenager, I could definitely relate to the part about ‘growing up and forgetting’. It really made me want to go back to the innocence of being a kid and just having fun.

Animation: I loved how the animation would change as they would talk about the Little Prince! Although it wasn’t as ‘smooth’ as Pixar’s animation, it was definitely great quality.

Positive Elements: It reminds us to have a childlike attitude in this society where nowadays everything is so fast-paced and kids are being forced to grow up quicker.

Negative Elements: The one and, I think, only thing I didn’t like about this movie was that it said,“…it is only with the heart that one can see rightly”. A lot of things in society have been pushing  the whole,“Follow Your Heart” agenda, when scripture specifically tells us,“The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?” (Jeremiah 17:9-KJV) It is blatantly going against what The Bible says. So next time you think about saying ‘follow your heart’, think again.

Music: Oh my gosh, I can’t even begin to describe my love for this soundtrack (I’m actually listening to it right now)! *squeals* The music was composed by Hans Zimmer (one of my favorites EVER!) and Richard Harvey with this French singer named Camille. I love Hans and I love French music, so could it get any better?! XD

Rating: 10/10 Stars **********

Conclusion: *sighs* I wish I could put all of my love that I have for this movie into more words, but I can’t. So all I can do now is recommend this movie for you to watch (and don’t forget the tissues if you’re like me)! And if you don’t have Netflix, at least watch the trailers.

// Well I hope that you enjoyed my first movie review! If you have watched it already, please let me know what you thought about it. I’d love to know! Later darlings! ❤

DIY Stickers

Things You Will Need:

– A Pencil

– Paper/Cardstock

– Scissors/Craft Scissors

– Markers/Crayons/Colored Pencils

– Double-sided Tape

Directions:

First, sketch out your sticker design on the piece of paper. If you want the sticker to be thick, then use a piece of Cardstock or sketchbook paper. I drew a marshmallow.

Next, color in your design.

(If you want your sticker to have a ‘laminated’ look, lay a strip of packing tape over the design.) Once you’ve done that, flip over the picture and start laying down the double-sided tape to cover the design.

Using scissors or craft scissors (depending on your preference), cut out the sticker and you’re done!

I put mine on my sketchbook along with a couple other stickers I created. (I didn’t create the penguin sticker in the middle. I bought it online from Redbubble.)

I hope you enjoyed this DIY! Later darlings! ❤

What I Got for My Birthday

Hey darlings! In my Life Update post, I mentioned that I got some birthday money from family, friends, and working at a curriculum booth. Here are the things that I spent my money on!

1. A ukulele

I got my very first ukulele! It’s a Kala Makala Dolphin Ukulele (notice the dolphin where the strings are held together on the bottom). I love it so much and it sounds so beautiful! Just look at that color! XD

2. My sister’s birthday gift

For my sister’s birthday, I got her some books (Gathering Blue by Lois Lowry, Dreamtreaders and The Door Within by Wayne Thomas Batson from thriftbooks.com) and some cute magnetic bookmarks from CraftedVan on Etsy!

3. Tombow Dual Brush Pens & Purple Headphones

I use the pens for calligraphy and handlettering, and I got some new earbuds cause my other ones finally died. :(:

4. A camera

I got a Fujifilm Instax Mini 8 in Blue with a Galaxy case! I also got another box of accessories to go along with it. I got it all from Amazon.

5. A Bag/Backpack

I’ve always wanted a bag like this style and I finally got one! I love the color scheme!

6. Lipcolor

I got this pretty lipcolor by Revlon in number 655-Kisses. It’s really pretty! (The color has more mauve though…)

Well, that’s pretty much everything I got! I hope y’all enjoyed this post. Later! ❤

Life Update

So for those of you who actually read my blog, sorry for disappearing! I need to find a way to manage my time better… Since I haven’t really posted anything about me since around June, I guess I will just give y’all some highlights of my life that have taken place this summer!

1. Family Visits

In June, some family members from my mom’s side came over to visit for a little over a week. We went to a theme park and all sorts of fun places! Here’s a picture of this awesome Doctor Who mug I got at this little shop we went to:

2. I turned 17!

As some of you may know, I turned 17 on July 11th! My birthday was really fun and I got to make/decorate my own cake (pic below)!

3. My Birthday Party

Okay, so even though I’ve never had a birthday party before (I mean I always talked about having one, but then life happens so…) it was the best party ever! To celebrate, we hosted a Hobbit Trilogy movie marathon at our house and I invited 3 of my friends! It started at 10 a.m. and we didn’t finish till 7 p.m.. We had lunch, snacks, pizza, and all sorts of fun! If you don’t already know, I’m a HUGE Lord of the Rings/Hobbit fan so having a marathon of some of the movies was a dream come true and a memory I will cherish forever!

4. My Birthday Gifts

So my friends gave me some birthday gifts and I got a new sketchbook, some chocolate scented mascara (which is literally the best thing ever!), a box filled with “open when” letters (if you don’t know what those are look it up on Google or Pinterest), some more artsy stuff, and I got a lot of money from some family members and working a booth at a curriculum fair. (I’ll do a separate post of the stuff I bought with the money I got.)

5. More family visits

My Grandma and great Aunt (dad’s side) came to visit last week and we had a great time!

6. The Little Prince (Netflix)

Guys, The Little Prince movie finally came out on Netflix (on the 5th)!!!!!!! XD I have waited since last year to watch this movie and it finally came out. No joke, this is literally in my Top 3 favorite movies now (and that’s next to LOTR and The Hobbit, so it’s a BIG DEAL)! And the music was done by Hans Zimmer; like can this movie get any better?! If you have Netflix and haven’t watched it yet, what are doing reading this?! GO WATCH IT!!!! (I will be doing a review of it soon in another post.)

(Side Note: I couldn’t even watch the trailers without getting watery eyes, so…)

7. I’m a Senior!

I can now say that I am a senior in high school! Time sure has flown!

8. Driving?

I can’t remember if I ever told y’all but I got my Driver’s Permit back in May. My dad and I went driving shortly after I got it and long-story-short, I ended up hitting the curb really bad and I was totally scarred (mentally)! But anyways, my dad and I finally made time to practice again this past weekend and I think I did pretty good. I was super nervous to get back behind the wheel (which can be very intimidating; especially since we drive a huge van) but I’m glad I did! I definitely feel more confident. 🙂

9. A job?!

Today I had my very first interview for a job! And guess how it went….. :/ Well, I’ll tell you right now that it went a lot better than I expected! My stomach was hurting before I went cause I was so nervous! But then it ended up hurting for nothing because…. I GOT THE JOB!!! *happy dances* I can now say I work at Culver’s (check them out at: culvers.com)! I can’t believe I actually have a job! I’m so nervous but really excited at the same time! Wish me luck as I embark on this new stage of my life of managing schoolwork and a part-time job! 😀

So that’s pretty much what’s been up in my life right now! Hope you learned something new about me! Later darlings! ❤

Book Review: The Giver

Today’s book review is on ‘The Giver’ by Lois Lowry.

The Giver (The Giver Quartet, #1)

The Giver by Lois Lowry // Review

The Giver, the 1994 Newbery Medal winner, has become one of the most influential novels of our time. The haunting story centers on twelve-year-old Jonas, who lives in a seemingly ideal, if colorless, world of conformity and contentment. Not until he is given his life assignment as the Receiver of Memory does he begin to understand the dark, complex secrets behind his fragile community. -From Goodreads

Genre: Classics // Fiction // Young Adult

My Thoughts: Oh my word, I don’t think I’ve ever read a book so fast (under a day)! This book was amazing and surpassed my expectations for it! Although, it might be kinda hard to pick up that they don’t see color (cause it was for me, but luckily I had watched the movie first).

Writing Style: The writing style is very easy to read and gets the point across pretty quick.

Story Line: The story line was amazing and pulled on some heart strings! Even though I sometimes wish the world was more structured like the way it was in The Giver, the ending reminds me why things play out better the way they are.

Characters: From beginning to end you get to see how the main characters grow in knowledge and strength. It shows that young or old, you can always learn something new!

Favorite Part: I love when The Giver and Jonas start having their sessions together and you get to see more character development.

Cons: From what I remember, there wasn’t anything that I disagreed with.

My Rating: 5 Stars *****

Conclusion: This book will always be one of my favorites and I would recommend it for any age group!

Hey darlings! I’m so sorry that I haven’t posted in forever! Life has just been pretty crazy lately, but I hope I’ll be able to post more! ❤
